Head of Unit Orthopaedic Surgery

    Western Health is seeking an Orthopaedic Surgeon to replace the retiring Head of Unit in leading the enthusiastic and innovative team.

    The orthopaedic unit is the largest within the Division of Surgical Services including 20 senior medical staff and approximately 100 scheduled operating sessions per month across Footscray, Sunshine and Williamstown campuses. With dedicated elective and emergency lists, structured business and audit meeting times the unit is well placed to manage the 3,800 in-patients managed each year.

    Outpatient clinics are currently being consolidated to one campus with the exception of the Paediatric service at Sunshine Hospital. An emergency receiving roster operates across Footscray and Sunshine Hospitals with an independent paediatric roster.

    The unit has strong junior medical staff support from training positions to intern roles at all sites.
